To join Air Force ROTC, you simply enroll in the class through your school's registrar.  If you are attending one of our cross-town schools (St. Lawrence University, SUNY Potsdam, or SUNY Canton), you will need to fill out a cross-enrollment form and bring it to the Aerospace Studies department for completion.  Anyone can take Air Force ROTC academic classes, but to be eligible as a member of the Cadet Corps, you must meet the following criteria:

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be enrolled in one of the Associated Colleges (Clarkson, St. Lawrence, Potsdam or Canton)
  • Participate in both Aerospace Studies classes and Leadership Lab
  • Be a United States Citizen
  • Be of good moral character
  • Males over 18 years of age must have a Selective Service Number

Once you meet the eligibility requirements, you can pursue membership in Air Force ROTC.  After you sign up for classes, you will need to fill out an application for membership as well as some additional documentation.  This information certifies that you are eligible for membership.  Also, you will be required to furnish the following for your personnel records:

  • Original or Notarized copy of Birth Certificate
  • Original, Signed Social Security Card
  • Copy of Immunization Records
  • Copy of SAT/ACT scores
  • Official High school transcript
  • Official Transcripts of any previous college work

What Else?

In order to activate a scholarship (start receiving funds) or to join the Professional Officer Course (POC - junior and senior cadets), you will be enlisted in the inactive reserves, and incur a commitment to the US Air Force.  Freshman scholarship cadets do not incur a commitment. When you enlist, you will need to pass the following:
