Clarkson Professor To Edit Special Issue Of Journal Of Public Policy & Marketing

Potsdam, N.Y.– Clarkson University Associate Professor of Marketing Larry D. Compeau of Canton has been selected to serve as an editor for a special issue of the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing to be published in 1998. Compeau will join his long-time collaborator, Dhruv Grewal of the University of Miami, in publishing the first complete journal issue devoted solely to pricing public policy issues.

The Journal of Public Policy and Marketing is published every six months by the American Marketing Association. The content focuses on the latest in marketing implications of recent public policy developments. The special issue on pricing and public policy will include topics such as price discrimination, price fixing, and international pricing.

The editorial review board along with the regular editor, Debra Scammon, judged the topic to be both timely and important enough to devote an entire issue to its coverage. "This is an important topic, and I can't think of two people better qualified than Compeau and Grewal to manage the development of manuscripts to be included in this special issue," says Scammon.

I'm very flattered and honored for this prestigious recognition of my last eight years of work on this topic says Compeau about the invitation. "Pricing is an important strategic marketing variable that often has great public policy implications, especially when it comes to deceptive or discriminatory pricing practices. I'm pleased that government officials, marketing professionals and academics will have the opportunity to examine the cutting edge of research in this area."

Larry Compeau has been with Clarkson University since 1991, when he started as an assistant professor for the Clarkson School of Business. Prior to coming to Clarkson, Compeau worked at several universities, notably Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He also has many years of industry experience, most recently as president and CEO of Computer Resource Technologies Inc. from 1980 to 1987. A Clarkson graduate with his B.S. in management and marketing, and economics, and his M.S. in management, Compeau went to Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University for his Ph.D. in marketing and statistics.
