Clarkson University Convocation Workshop To Address "The Hispanic Culture In The Workplace"

POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Maria Mercedes-Olivieri, National Hispanic Program manager of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Civil Rights, will present a workshop on "The Hispanic Culture in the Workplace" on Thursday, October 16, at 7:00 p.m. in Barben Rooms C&D of the Cheel Campus Center at Clarkson University.

The fastest growing segment of the American population is the Hispanic population. With such changes to the national demographics of our country, it becomes increasingly important to understand the similarities and differences between the Hispanic culture and the white North American culture. Mercedes-Oliveri will discuss the similarities and differences between the main Latino/Hispanic groups and the values they share, how those values clash with the main values of the North American/Anglo workplace culture, and how to deal with such differences.

The workshop is presented for National Hispanic Month, which runs from September 15 to October 15, and is part of the annual Clarkson Convocation Series, which brings artists and lecturers to the North Country community.
