Clarkson Professor's Book Is Named To "top-35 Sustainability Books Of The Decade"

Clarkson University Technical Communications Professor Stephen Doheny-Farina's book The Wired Neighborhood has been named one of the "Top-35 Sustainability Books of the Decade" by the Florida Sustainable Communities Center. The list can be found on the Web at under "Editor's Picks."

In The Wired Neighborhood Doheny Farina explores the nature of cyberspace and the increasing virtualization of everyday life. He explores how the new communication technologies of the Internet might impact communities for good and bad.

Occupying a middle ground between extreme views of the Internet, Doheny Farina argues in The Wired Neighborhood that electronic neighborhoods should be less important than geophysical neighborhoods in all their integrity, and that we must use the new technologies not to escape from our troubled communities, but to reinvigorate them.

Doheny-Farina is the author of several books on the social and organizational impacts of new technologies.
