Clarkson Grads Get Names In Lights Sunday

Clarkson will also be broadcasting the Commencement on the Internet ( with RealVideo for the second consecutive year.

Hockey players at Clarkson University are used to having their name up in lights. This Sunday at Clarkson's Commencement, more than 500 graduates will get their turn to shine. As each grad is called to the stage in the Cheel Arena, his or her name will be displayed on the big scoreboard.

Senior Brian Lisiecki (le-SECK-ee) came up with the idea. He and fellow senior Taufan (rhymes with "how non") Tjioe (rhymes with "chew") spent hours putting names-- one by one-- into the computer, which controls the scoreboard. They spent another four hours proofreading those names.
