Baum Of Little Falls Receives Clarkson University's Top Alumni Honor

Thomas R. Baum of Little Falls, N.Y., has received the Golden Knight Award from his alma mater, Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York. Presented each year during Reunion Weekend, Clarkson's most prestigious alumni award is given to alumni who have distinguished themselves either by service to Clarkson through Alumni Association activities or have demonstrated outstanding career achievement, bringing distinction to themselves and to Clarkson

Baum graduated from Clarkson in 1969 with a bachelor of science degree in Industrial Distribution. Upon graduation, he joined Empire Fibreglass Products, Inc. in Little Falls, NY as production manager and became president of his family business in 1984. Empire Fibreglass Products has been in the fiberglass industry for almost 40 years, and provides custom fabrication in manufacturing of fiberglass products from canoes to corrosion-resistant chemical storage tanks primarily for markets in the northeastern United States and southern Canada.

In addition to serving on the Board of Directors of the Little Falls Family YMCA, the Herkimer Chamber of Commerce and the Little Falls Municipal Golf Commission, Baum has always maintained a close relationship with his alma mater. He has coordinated the Alumni Association Mohawk Valley chapter annual golf outing for many years and has served that organization hosting numerous other events as a chapter board member. Most recently, Baum served the Mohawk Valley chapter as its president. Baum returns to campus for many of the Golden Knight's home hockey games and recently began a five-year term as a member-at-large on the Alumni National Executive Council. A member of the Clarkson Roundtable, Baum has been a regional phonathon volunteer and assisted the Admission Office as an alumni admission volunteer. Through his efforts, Empire Fibreglass Products, Inc. has been a sponsor for both the Solar Knights and Formula SAE racing teams since their inception.
