Young Alumni Honored By Clarkson University

Kerr received his bachelor of science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Clarkson in 1989. After graduation, Kerr joined Landis and Staefa, Inc., where he worked in positions in both design and sales engineering. In 1995, Kerr moved to Syncsort, Inc. where he has served in a number of increasingly responsible positions and is currently a senior account representative.

Kerr has demonstrated a passion for volunteer involvement with his alma mater since graduation. He currently serves as a member-at-large of the Alumni National Executive Council and has been a board member and president of both the Long Island and Tri-State Chapters of the Alumni Association. He has served as an event coordinator for numerous regional Chapter events, and has been an alumni admission volunteer and presenter for the Clarkson Leadership Award at high schools in his area.

As chair of the Alumni National Executive Council Communication Committee, Kerr has played a leadership role in developing Clarkson's use of electronic communications with alumni, including the development of Web pages for each regional chapter, electronic messages to alumni, and the design of the web-based, soon-to-be-announced Clarkson Alumni Association On-Line Community. Kerr has served this year as reunion gift chair for the Class of 1989's tenth reunion.

McCormick graduated from Clarkson in 1979 with a bachelor of science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. She worked for the General Electric Company and New York State Office of General Services for a short period before joining the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation where she serves today as an associate environmental engineer with the Division of Environmental Remediation.

McCormick has given generously of her time to support Clarkson and the Alumni Association. She has completed a five-year term as member-at-large of the Alumni National Executive Council and was a member of Clarkson's Engineering Advisory Council for three years. She has served as a board of directors member and coordinated many Clarkson events over fifteen years as a member of the Capital District Alumni Chapter. She has been instrumental in recruiting many new students from the Capital District region as an alumni admission volunteer, and she received additional recognition by Clarkson's Admissions Office just yesterday by being named the Volunteer of the Year for her support with student recruitment initiatives.

McCormick has served as her class reunion chair, returned to campus on numerous occasions as a speaker for the School of Engineering, and for the Alumni Career Day programs. She has been an advisor to Clarkson's Environmental Design Team and has hired many Clarkson graduates who are now employed by the Department of Environmental Conservation.
