Bayard D. Clarkson Jr. M.D. Elected To Clarkson University Board Of Trustees

POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Bayard D. Clarkson Jr., M.D., of Chestnut Hill, Mass., a psychiatrist in private practice since 1987, has been elected to the Clarkson University Board of Trustees.

Bayard Clarkson’s practice includes individual psychotherapy and psychoanalysis with adults and children, child psychiatry consultation and evaluation, adult and pediatric psychopharmacology, as well as couples and family treatment. In addition to private practice, Clarkson has served as an instructor in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School since 1989, and at Boston University School of Medicine from 1993-94.Bayard D. Previously, he was a consulting psychiatrist at Wayside Beaverbrook Counseling Center in Waltham, Mass., from 1995-98; consulting psychiatrist at Brighton-Allston Mental Health Center in Brighton, Mass., from 1995-97; director of adolescent services at Westwood Lake Hospital in Westwood, Mass., from 1990-95; and assistant director for adolescent services at Westwood from 1989-90.

Clarkson earned his bachelor of arts degree from Harvard University in 1977, graduating cum laude with a concentration in English and American literature and language.  He was a research student at the London School of Economics and Political Science from 1978-79.  In 1983, he earned an M.D. from the Boston University School of Medicine.  Currently, he is a candidate at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute.

Clarkson is a member of the American Psychiatry Association, the Massachusetts Psychiatric Society, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the New England Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and an affiliate member of the American Psychoanalytic Association.

Clarkson University is an independent institution located in northern New York, in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains.  The University has 2,902 graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in programs in its schools of Business, Engineering, Liberal Arts, and Science, and its Interdisciplinary Engineering and Management program.
