Mccormick '79 Of Schenectady Elected Clarkson University Alumni Second Vice President

POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Susan D. McCormick of Schenectady, N.Y., an associate environmental engineer with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), was recently elected as second vice president of the Clarkson University Alumni Association for the 2000-2001 term.

McCormick graduated from Clarkson in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering.  A registered professional engineer in New York State, McCormick is currently an associate environmental engineer with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation where she is Manager of Remedial Section B. 

McCormick is very active in many civic, charitable and professional associations.  A member of Clarkson’s Engineering Advisory Council for three years, she also completed a five-year term as a Member-at-Large on the Alumni National Executive Council.  She has served as her class reunion chair, has coordinated many regional events, and been an active member in the Capital District Chapter for over 15 years.  McCormick has returned to campus often as a guest speaker for various professional activities.  She has been an alumni career mentor and has hired many Clarkson graduates now employed by the Department of Environmental Conservation, and has also assisted many students who have enrolled at Clarkson by serving as a volunteer for the alumni admission program.

McCormick and her family currently reside in Schenectady.

Clarkson University is an independent institution located in northern New York, in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains.  The University has 2,902 graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in programs in its schools of Business, Engineering, Liberal Arts, and Science, and its Interdisciplinary Engineering and Management program.
