Clarkson University Mcommerce Business Forum To Be Webcast Live March 28

Potsdam, N.Y. – A Clarkson University graduate business forum, “mCommerce – Business in a Wireless World,” will be webcast live on Wednesday, March 28, from the Cheel Campus Center. The event, sponsored by the University’s Center for Canadian-U.S. Business Studies, begins at 1 p.m. at http://media.clarkson.edu.

Utilizing a mobile telecommunications network that links business, supply chain partners, customers, and smart appliances, mCommerce (mobile commerce) is the latest way of doing business. Through multifunctional cellular phones and personal data assistants, businesses interact and transact with customers and employees anytime and anywhere, freed from the constraints of an office and a computer.

“Today, more and more people are using wireless devices like cell phones and Palm Pilots,” says Sandra Zuhsldorf, executive officer of the Clarkson University School of Business (CUSB). “They can access the Internet and send text messages. It’s changing the way we communicate.”

With those changes come questions: What will the impact be on business? How do we integrate wireless in the workplace? Is it cost effective? What relevance do these changes have for small business? How is international commerce affected? The Clarkson graduate business forum will address these questions.

Richard Siber, a partner with Accenture (formerly Anderson Consulting) and a well-known high-tech guru, is the forum’s keynote speaker, offering “An Overview of the Wireless World.”

Bruce Noel of Qualcomm will speak on “Devices and How They Fit Into the Wireless World.” Noel, a 1963 graduate of Clarkson, will show off some of the latest devices and how they can help businesspeople become more knowledgeable about mCommerce.

Heath Everett, senior business development manager/ISV Alliances with Research in Motion Ltd. Of Toronto, will speak about applications within the wireless world.

The event and webcast are free of charge and open to the public. Seating is limited, so reservations are needed. To RSVP, or for more information, contact Theresa Ferero at 315-268-4469 or by e-mail at fereotl@clarkson.edu.
