Geoff Brown Appointed Director Of Athletics Fundraising At Clarkson University

Geoff Brown has been appointed director of Athletics Fundraising at Clarkson University, a newly created position. In this role, Brown will lead a significant fund raising effort to support all aspects of Clarkson’s athletic and recreational programming.

“We are pleased to welcome Geoff and his experience to our Development staff,” said Michael Cooper, vice president for Institutional Advancement. “His first hand experience as our athletic director, as well as his familiarity with many of our alumni, fit well with this important new initiative.”

Brown’s new assignment will include the development of an action plan to upgrade existing athletic facilities and operational budgets.

“Recommendations from the President’s Task Force on intercollegiate athletics clearly supported the need for improvements in facilities and budgets,” said Vice President for Student Affairs Gary Kelly. “While some capital improvements are currently underway to improve team rooms and offices for our sports programs, a person with Geoff’s background focusing on this endeavor should offer Clarkson Athletics a real boost.”

Brown is currently Clarkson’s athletics director. He will assume his new responsibilities July 1, 2002.

Clarkson is initiating a national search to fill the athletic director’s position created by Brown’s move.
