Clarkson Business Student Organization Hosts Annual Holiday Party For Children In Need

Alpha Kappa Psi (AKPsi), a professional business student organization at Clarkson University, recently hosted its annual community holiday party to benefit local children in need. The students organized games and activities and distributed new winter coats, hats, gloves and toys to more than 15 children.

The organization has been hosting the annual event since 1967. “The children really seemed to have a great time and so did we,” said AKPsi President Patty Oberdorf, a senior from Adirondack, N.Y. “We look forward to doing it again next year.”

AKPsi members spent the fall raising money to purchase the winter clothing and gifts that were distributed at the party. Their successful “Lay It On The Line” fall fund-raising campaign was held at area stores, including Big M, P&C and Ames, and raised over $300. The Clarkson University Student Association also donated $100 toward the event.

The party was held on the Clarkson campus and coordinated through St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam.
