Clarkson University's Delta Zeta Sorority Honored For Academic Achievement

The Delta Zeta International Sorority of Oxford, Ohio, has recognized its Clarkson University chapter with the prestigious Silver Award for outstanding academic achievement.

Clarkson’s Xi Rho chapter of Delta Zeta received the award for being among the international organization’s top six chapters with the highest grade-point averages for the past two years. The chapter’s cumulative grade-point average for the period was 3.19.

"Delta Zeta has been an extremely positive organization on campus for many years and I am pleased that they have been recognized for their outstanding academic achievement," said Jason C. Libby, director of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs at Clarkson. "This is another example of the growing list of achievements that the fraternity and sorority system at Clarkson has accomplished within the past two years."

Clarkson University fraternities and sororities must meet high standards of academic performance, conduct and community service. This past year, the chapter raised more than $2,000 and completed over 250 hours of volunteer service in the local community.  The chapter helped to organize a haunted house fundraiser, the Miracle on Market Street, and the Potsdam Senior Citizens Winter Ball.  The chapter was also awarded the Clarkson University Presidential Cup for Chapter Excellence this past year.

Delta Zeta International Sorority was founded in 1902 at Miami University and has 165 active undergraduate chapters in the United States.  The Clarkson chapter of Delta Zeta was founded in 1986.
