Clarkson University recently hosted two representatives from the Shanghai Foreign Service Company, an organization that facilitates relationships between Chinese companies and students and foreign universities and corporations. shanghai

The visit was arranged by the Clarkson School of Business as part of an ongoing project to establish global relationships and recruit foreign students, and continues the dialogue established last year during a trip to Shanghai by Clarkson School of Business Professor Brian O’Neil and North Country economic developers.

“Clarkson has become recognized as a leading institution in the field of global supply chain management,” said O’Neil. “China is a key supplier of raw materials and manufacturing for the global marketplace. As we continue to develop our expertise in this area, forming professional relationships with Chinese companies will give our students and business people the opportunity to travel to China and see firsthand the source point of the supply chain. We will also be able to identify and recruit promising Chinese students who meet our admissions requirements. This is a very exciting opportunity.”

Clarkson University’s School of Business is ranked 13th in the nation for its supply chain management program according to U.S. News & World Report’s America’s Best Colleges 2003. Clarkson has taken a leadership position by offering a comprehensive, cutting-edge program for undergraduate and graduate students as well as corporate executives and has benefited from the University’s combined expertise in technology and business.

During their visit, the representative met with School of Business faculty and graduate students, toured the North Country and had an opportunity to meet local business people to discuss ways to connect local business owners with suppliers of raw materials in China.
