Clarkson Fraternities And Sororities Receive National Award

The Clarkson University fraternity and sorority community has been honored with a national achievement award by the North American Interfraternity Conference for "contributions and efforts in advancing the fraternal movement."

This is the second national award to be received by Clarkson's fraternity and sorority community this academic year. Earlier this semester it was recognized for attaining a grade-point average that is the highest percentage above the all-student university average of any college with fraternities and sororities in the Northeast.

This recognition of our academic-focused chapter programming, anti-hazing and alcohol policies, and growing community involvement is a model for other institutions, said Jason C. Libby, director of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs. "It is gratifying for our fraternities and sororities to be recognized both nationally and regionally for scholastic achievement and the many other advancements that they have made in the past few years."

The North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) represents 66 national or international fraternities with 5,500 chapters located on 800 campuses in the United States and Canada with approximately 350,000 undergraduate members, the NIC advocates for the enrichment of the fraternity experience; advancement and growth of the fraternity community; and enhancement of the educational mission of host institutions. The NIC is also committed to enhancing the benefits of fraternity membership.
