Clarkson University Invention Institute Seeks Project Proposals

The Clarkson Invention Institute (CII) is accepting proposals from inventors and entrepreneurs to design, develop, and potentially market inventions and products. Projects must produce a product that serves a real need, and must be within the capabilities of students working with mentors.

Accepted projects will involve designing, building and testing a prototype. Past projects have included an all-wheel drive, all-steer bicycle, a racquetball training partner, and a car seat for disabled young adults.

Projects will be supervised by Clarkson faculty and can involve student teams from across Clarkson’s schools of Arts and Sciences, Business, and Engineering. Student teams may work on product design, development and manufacturing, documentation, training, and/or marketing ideas.

Proposals are due August 1 for work beginning in the fall semester, and November 15 for work beginning in the spring semester.

Individuals proposing a project must agree to serve as advisers for the project. An accepted proposal will be staffed according to the work in the proposal, with student workers and faculty mentors from the Clarkson community.
