Clarkson's Dana Barry Appointed Honorary President Of Scientific Board Of Ansted University

Clarkson University Center for Advanced Materials Processing (CAMP) Technical Writer Dana M. Barry of Canton has been appointed an honorary president of the scientific board for Ansted University in the British Virgin Islands, United Kingdom.

As an honorary president, Barry will be responsible for improving and promoting the quality and effectiveness of Ansted University’s science and engineering programs.barry

Barry will deliver the welcoming speech at the Ansted University convocation ceremony organized by Ansted and London Metropolitan University. She has also been invited to present a paper at the Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility. Both events are scheduled to take place in London in September. Barry’s trip is sponsored by CAMP, the Northern New York Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and Ansted University.

Barry also serves as an external professor for Ansted University in Malaysia. She is a certified chemist, and is the recipient of an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Northern New York section of the ACS for her efforts to bring and translate the excitement of chemistry to youth of all ages. She is the author of five books and numerous journal publications and has received a number of honors, including seven APEX Awards for Publication Excellence.  She is also featured in the preeminent reference series, Something About the Author, which includes biographies of authors from around the world who have made noteworthy contributions to children’s literature.

Last year, Barry was visiting professor at the Suzuka National College of Technology in Japan. While at Suzuka, she presented seminars on an innovative method for teaching college and high school chemistry that uses music and science experiments to present the subject to students in an exciting and unusual way.  She developed the method in collaboration with Professor Hideyuki Kanematsu of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Suzuka.
