U.S. News Ranks Clarkson University Among Best Engineering Civil and Environmental Graduate Schools

Each year, U.S. News ranks a variety of professional-school programs, including engineering. Rankings are based on expert opinion about program quality and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school's faculty, research and students. Data for rankings comes from nearly 1,300 graduate programs, and approximately 9,600 academics and professionals.

"Through focusing on engineering issues of national interest under the motto of "Technology Serving Humanity," and by taking an approach to education that emphasizes fundamental, as well as hands-on learning, the University is able to provide its students with the engineering training and research opportunities that will make them successful leaders in their chosen fields," remarked Goodarz Ahmadi, interim dean of Clarkson's Wallace H. Coulter School of Engineering.

Clarkson was ranked among the Best National Universities in U.S. News & World Report's America's Best Colleges 2006 issue this past August. The University was recognized as one of the "Best Engineering Programs" whose highest degree is a doctorate. In addition, the 2005 rankings Web site recognized Clarkson as offering one of the "Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs" in the nation and ranked the Clarkson School of Business 19th in the nation for its supply chain management program.

Clarkson University, located in Potsdam, New York, is a private, nationally ranked university with a reputation for developing innovative leaders in engineering, business, the sciences, health sciences and the humanities. At Clarkson, 3,000 high-ability students excel in an environment where learning is not only positive, friendly and supportive but spans the boundaries of traditional disciplines and knowledge. Faculty achieves international recognition for their research and scholarship and connects students to their leadership potential in the marketplace through dynamic, real-world problem solving.
