Clarkson University Business School is Among Nation's Best - The Princeton Review

For the second year in a row The Princeton Review has featured Clarkson University as one of the best business schools in America in its annual college guide. The New York-based education services company features the school in the just published 2007 edition of its "Best 282 Business Schools."

However, the magazine does rank the top 10 schools in several categories.

The ten lists are based on The Princeton Review's survey of 18,000 students attending the 282 business schools profiled in the book. Clarkson was listed number nine in the category "Most competitive students."

Timothy F. Sugrue, dean of Clarkson's School of Business, likes this particular ranking. "We were similarly ranked last year," says Sugrue. "Clarkson attracts a serious student, who is willing to put in the work to be successful. Our interdisciplinary approach to teaching means students leave here prepared to be productive and make an immediate impact in the workplace. Employers know this about Clarkson and heavily recruit our graduates."

The ranking by The Princeton Review is only the latest recognition received by Clarkson's business school. U. S. News and World Report's annual "Best Colleges 2007" Guide recently ranked the school's Supply Chain Management Program #10 in the nation. "In fact," remarked Sugrue, "employers like IBM, Boeing, Grainger, HSBC, Lockheed Martin, United Technologies, GE, Texas Instruments and others stand in line to hire our supply chain students."

"Experiential learning early in the student's college career is the key to the success of our program," says Sugrue. "Unlike typical business schools that make students wait until they are seniors to obtain real-world experience, every freshman business student at Clarkson develops and launches a real business. This includes coming up with the idea for a viable business, acquiring venture capital, sales, employee issues and operating the company."

Clarkson's Venture@Moorehouse, a program for sophomores and juniors, is a residential experience in which students live together and operate a business. This unique program expands upon the concepts learned during the freshman year. Students selected for Venture@Moorehouse have the opportunity to experience launching a business and the movement of technical innovation to the marketplace.
