Six to Receive Clarkson University Inspirational High School Educator Award

Clarkson University has announced the recipients of the 2007 Clarkson University Inspirational High School Educator Award. The winners will be honored during commencement weekend, May 12-13.

Each year, Clarkson seniors are invited to nominate a secondary school educator whom they feel has had a significant effect on their lives and helped guide their higher education decisions and career pursuits. The award recognizes these educators for their influential and lasting impact on their students and in their field of education. This is the 18th year Clarkson has sponsored the award.

This is the 18th consecutive year that Clarkson has bestowed this award. "Some high school educators are successful in motivating students and helping them to harness their capabilities and creativity in a quest to discover where their strengths lie," said Clarkson University Vice President for University Outreach and Student Affairs Kathryn Johnson. "We, as a university, rely on those educators and their valuable guidance to our prospective students. We are proud to honor those who have given selflessly so that these students could have the best education possible."

The recipients of the 2007 Clarkson University Inspirational High School Educator Awards are:

- Paul Gamm of Fairfax, Vt., a chemistry teacher at Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans, Vt., nominated by senior Samuel Gorton of Sheldon, Vt., a chemical engineering major.

- Chester E. Rosenburgh, Jr., of Barneveld, N.Y., a science teacher at Poland Central School in Poland, N.Y., nominated by senior Danielle Renodin of Poland, N.Y., a biology and psychology major.

- Anthony Rosillo of Sayre, Pa., a mathematics teacher at Waverly Central School in Waverly, N.Y., nominated by senior Elizabeth Urban of Waverly, N.Y., an environmental engineering and civil engineering major.

- Nelson Shapiro of Ticonderoga, N.Y, a music teacher at Ticonderoga High Schools in Ticonderoga, N.Y., nominated by senior Lucas Frasier of Hague, N.Y., a mechanical engineering major.
