Czanderna of St. Joseph Receives Clarkson University's Top Alumni Honor

Czanderna earned her bachelor of science degree in physics from Clarkson in 1977. She continued her education at Cornell University where she received her Ph.D. in materials science and engineering in 1984. She also participated in the Harvard Business School Program for Management Development. czanderna-gk-2007

Today, Czanderna is vice president and general manager of KitchenAid Brand and Cooking Products, where she and her team are responsible for profitable revenue growth for the second largest appliance category in Whirlpool. She invests her time ensuring the global business strategy and robust product development, while delivering a sustainable stream of consumer focused, innovative products.

Previously, Czanderna worked at Eastman Kodak for 18 years, holding a series of increasingly senior positions. She was corporate vice president and business general manager for the commercial inkjet and photographic digital printing businesses, as well as the worldwide portrait photography business, vice president of copier supplies business and director of engineering, vice president and director of digital product quality, and worldwide product service manager in the copier business.

Since her graduation, Czanderna has been increasingly active as a volunteer for her alma mater. She participated in career planning programs and donated her time extensively as a speaker on and off campus. She is an active member of the engineering advisory council and has served on the Clarkson board of trustees since 2002. She is currently co-chair of the trusteeship committee and the past chair of the academic affairs committee. She also serves on the executive, research and marketing committees of the board. She and her husband, Dan Shirkey, a 1980 Clarkson graduate, have also established the Kardan Scholarship Fund at Clarkson.
