Clarkson University's ben-Avraham Named "Outstanding Referee" by American Physical Society

Clarkson University Physics Professor Daniel ben-Avraham has been named an "Outstanding Referee" by the American Physical Society.

The American Physical Society recognizes a small number of their 42,000 referees each year as "Outstanding Referees" in order to show their appreciation for the essential work that anonymous peer reviewers do for their academic journal. This year they will recognize 534 outstanding referees as their inaugural group and then choose additional 130 or so referees each subsequent year for this lifetime award.

ben-Avraham has been a member of the Clarkson faculty since 1987. Prior to this appointment, he was a post-doctoral research associate at Boston University. He has held short appointments as a visiting professor at Bar-Ilan University, Israel, the University of Granada, Spain, Heidelberg University, Germany, and at the Los Alamos National Laboratories. ben-Avraham holds a Ph.D. and master's and bachelor's degrees in physics from Bar-Ilan University.

ben-Avraham is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and a member of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. He is the author of over 130 research papers and coauthor of a graduate textbook. His long-time refereeing for several journals of the American Physical Society has earned him the present award.
