Two Honorary Degree Recipients to Address Graduates at Clarkson University Commencement May 11

Nearly 600 Clarkson University students will be granted bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees at commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 11. The weekend will also be marked by the commissioning of United States Army and Air Force ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) cadets on Saturday, May 10.

Receiving honorary degrees and addressing students, families and guests will be:

- Sophie V. Vandebroek, Xerox chief technology officer and president of the Xerox Innovation Group, who is responsible for overseeing Xerox's worldwide research centers and who also works to inspire enthusiasm into a new generation of children, especially girls, to aspire to careers in science and engineering.

During the commencement ceremony, two faculty members will be honored with the John W. Graham Jr. Faculty Research Award and the Clarkson University Distinguished Teaching Award. A retiring Clarkson faculty member will also be named professor emeritus in recognition and appreciation for his years of service to the University.

The Levinus Clarkson Award and the Frederica Clarkson Award will be bestowed upon two students who have demonstrated unsurpassed scholarship and promise of outstanding academic achievement.
