Clarkson University’s Dana Barry Visiting Professor and Keynote Speaker in Japan

Senior Technical Writer Dana M. Barry of Clarkson University’s Center for Advanced Materials Processing recently served as a visiting professor and keynote speaker in Japan.Clarkson University’s Dana Barry Visiting Professor and Keynote Speaker in Japan

Mitsuo Kawagishi, mayor of Suzuka City, greeted Barry and gave a brief introduction. In addition to her presentation, Barry was a leading member of the panel discussion group. She appeared in Japanese newspapers and on the television news in Suzuka City, which has a population of about 300, 000. The symposium was sponsored by Suzuka City, the Suzuka City Board of Education, and Suzuka National College of Technology.

While in Japan, Barry served as a visiting professor for Suzuka National College of Technology. She gave presentations and workshops to more than 400 college students attending Suzuka National College of Technology, Nara National College of Technology, and Numazu National College of Technology.

Some of the students also had an opportunity to participate in a Mars Explorer Simulation Mission led by Barry. This activity was provided by Space Explorers, Inc. in the United States. Her presentations focused on creative education and included a creative engineering design component. Barry’s collaborator for this ambitious effort to promote creative education at the international level is Hideyuki Kanematsu of Suzuka National College of Technology.

Barry serves as a professor and scientific board president for Ansted University. She is a certified professional chemist, an officer of the Northern New York section of the American Chemical Society, and has permanent teaching certification in chemistry and the general sciences. In addition she has numerous publications, honors and awards to her name.
