She received her bachelor of arts degree in mathematics from the University of California at Berkeley and her Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of California at Davis in 2002.

Navasca’s research interests are broadly in applied and computational math. She has worked on problems in optimal control theory, inverse problems, optimization, and multilinear algebra. Navasca has worked on several applications in the areas of wireless communications, radio-frequency ablation of liver tumors, unmanned aircraft vehicles (UAVS) system formation, and hysteresis of smart materials.

Before coming to Clarkson, Navasca held several research and teaching positions. She was an NSF-VIGRE assistant professor at the University of California in Los Angeles, a postdoctoral fellow with the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) in the Signal and Image Processing Research Unit in Cergy-Pontoise, France, and at the University of Waterloo in Ontario.
