Author and Plant Scientist Wes Jackson on WCKN TV Tuesday

Noted author and plant scientist Wes Jackson will be the subject of this week’s North Country Matters television show.

Jackson’s presentation will air on Time Warner Cable Channel 30 WCKN TV in Potsdam, Canton and Gouverneur on Tuesday, November 18, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.wjackson

His talk, titled "What Will the Ecosphere Require from Us?," was delivered live last Thursday in the Sara M. Snell Auditorium of Clarkson University’s downtown Snell Hall.

Jackson is the author of several books, including New Roots for Agriculture, and Becoming Native to This Place, and is widely recognized as a leader in the international movement for a more sustainable agriculture. He was a 1990 Pew Conservation Scholar, in 1992 became a MacArthur Fellow, and in 2000 received the Right Livelihood Award (called the "alternative Nobel prize").

This is the first of several programs that North Country Matters will air on the subject of the environment and sustainability in the coming months. Topics will include presentations from the St. Lawrence County Heating Fair & Sustainable Energy Fair at SUNY Canton earlier this fall.
