Tournament play spanned a four-day period in which the Clarkson team emerged victorious by capturing the Division II National Title. Rival schools who contended for the trophy were Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Bryant University, UMass-Lowell, and Colorado College.

The 2009 Clarkson national team consisted of a men’s team and a women’s team. These separate squads battled for points by defeating competing players within various stages of the tournament.

An aggregate total of the men’s and women’s team points determined Clarkson’s combined team standing among the opposing schools.

The Clarkson men’s team players, listed by rank, were 1. Brian T. Straub, MBA Student, South Berwick, Maine; 2. Senior Joseph V. Kapas, electrical engineering, Greenwich, N.Y.; 3. Brian C. Robertshaw, MBA, Amsterdam, N.Y.; 4. Senior Joseph E. Tabor, chemistry, Nicholville, N.Y.; 5. Sophomore Justin A. Konopaske, aeronautical engineering, East Greenbush, N.Y.; and 6. Freshman Marco B. Fontana, engineering studies, Troy, N.Y.

The women’s team was comprised of 1. Senior Michelle E. Turk, electrical engineering, South Berwick, Maine; and 2. Junior Rachel D. Weiss, chemical engineering, Longmeadow, Mass. The women’s combined effort propelled Clarkson’s overall point standing into first place.

The Clarkson Racquetball Team competes regularly within the Eastern Collegiate Racquetball Conference throughout the year.
