Four Honorary Degree Recipients to Address Graduates at Clarkson University Commencement May 10

More than 700 Clarkson University students are slated to be granted bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees at commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 10. The weekend will also be marked by the commissioning of United States Army and Air Force ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) cadets on Saturday, May 9.

Receiving honorary degrees and addressing students, families and guests will be:

- Inventor, author and entrepreneur Ray Kurzweil

- John H. Seinfeld, the Louis E. Nohl Professor in the Divisions of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and Engineering and Applied Science at the California Institute of Technology

- Joan A. Steitz, the Sterling Professor of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale University and investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Maryland

- Daniel F. Sullivan, the 17th president of St. Lawrence University

During the commencement ceremony, two faculty members will be honored with the John W. Graham Jr. Faculty Research Award and the Clarkson University Distinguished Teaching Award. Two retiring Clarkson faculty members will also be named professors emeriti in recognition and appreciation for his years of service to the University.

The Levinus Clarkson Award and the Frederica Clarkson Award will be bestowed upon two students who have demonstrated unsurpassed scholarship and promise of outstanding academic achievement.
