Clarkson University Army ROTC Students Commissioned for 2009

Clarkson University Army ROTC battalion cadets were commissioned into the U.S. Army at the annual spring commissioning on May 9. This year 10 Clarkson students were commissioned into the Army, and six students who will commission in the near future were recognized. Army ROTC 2009

The ceremony featured comments by retired Army Colonel John Paro, former commander of the Mountain Warfare School in Vermont, and father of one of the commissionees.

The ceremony also included the swearing in of the new officers, the pinning on of their gold bars by family members, and the traditional first salute, known as the silver dollar salute.

Receiving their commissions and becoming second lieutenants in the Army were seniors Jason W. Burgess, civil engineering, Wolcott, N.Y.; Amanda J. Crosley, Arete, South Colton N.Y.; Michael G. Frisone, civil engineering, Rexford, N.Y.; Michael F. Herman, political science, Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; Michael J. Ives, interdisciplinary engineering and management, Ogdensburg, N.Y.; Lewis E. Lizzotte, chemistry, Sutton, Vt.; Adam R. Martin, civil engineering, Cohoes, N.Y.; James I. Onley, communications, Watertown, N.Y.; Jeremy A. Paro, mechanical engineering, Richmond, Vt.; and Robert E. Walsh, interdisciplinary engineering and management, Rochester, N.Y.

Also recognized and being commissioned the following weekend were SUNY Potsdam students Jason Salter, business administration, Brooklyn, N.Y.; James Sanders, business administration, Houston, TX; David Tiedeman communications, Granville, N.Y.; SUNY Canton student Chris Hamberger, criminal investigation, Potsdam, N.Y.; and St. Lawrence University student Erin Cook, art education, Hogansburg, N.Y.

Also recognized was Tyler S. Weaver, engineering, Mexico, N.Y., of Clarkson who will be commissioned later this year.
