Clarkson University’s Entrepreneurship Center will again offer free guidance to North Country businesses through its My Small Business 101 series. Since 2004, My Small Business 101 has provided training to more than 200 business owners.msb101-2009

Small-business people in the area are invited to attend four weekly two-hour sessions, which will focus on topics to increase productivity and strategic planning.

Each week, Marc Compeau, director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and other School of Business faculty will focus on a different topic, including Thinking Strategically, Resource Management, Marketing Management and Financial Management.

"As the economy continues to create new pressures for local entrepreneurs we are pleased to assist participants in developing the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed," says Compeau. "Participants told us that they receive plenty of practical and useful information, tools and resources. They also appreciate the encouragement and inspiration of their colleagues."

There is no cost for the series, which will be held at Clarkson University in Bertrand H. Snell Hall Room 212 from 6 to 8 p.m. on February 1, 8, 15, and 22.

Those interested in attending should contact the Entrepreneurship Center by Monday, January 25, at 315-268-3995 or Space is limited and registration will be offered on a first-come first-served basis.

Clarkson University launches leaders into the global economy. One in six alumni already leads as a CEO, VP or equivalent senior executive of a company. Located just outside the Adirondack Park in Potsdam, N.Y., Clarkson is a nationally recognized research university for undergraduates with select graduate programs in signature areas of academic excellence directed toward the world’s pressing issues. Through 50 rigorous programs of study in engineering, business, arts, sciences and health sciences, the entire learning-living community spans boundaries across disciplines, nations and cultures to build powers of observation, challenge the status quo, and connect discovery and engineering innovation with enterprise.
