Howell Appointed Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at Clarkson University

Jason S. Howell has been appointed assistant professor of mathematics and computer science at Clarkson University.

Howell received his bachelor of science degree in mathematics from the College of Charleston and his master of science and Ph.D. in mathematical sciences from Clemson University.jhowell

Before coming to Clarkson, he was a postdoctoral associate at Carnegie Mellon University.

His research interests include numerical methods for coupled multi-scale problems in fluid/fluid and fluid/structure Interaction; algorithms for simulation of coupled ocean-atmosphere systems; numerical analysis of arterial blood flow; and finite element methods for fluids and structures.

Howell has published nine articles with six more currently submitted or in preparation. He is a member of the American Mathematical Society (AMS), the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) and the SIAM Activity Group on Computational Science and Engineering.
