Clarkson’s Honors Program is an intensive four-year curriculum for exceptionally talented students. The University admits only 30 new students to the Honors Program each year.

The Clarkson School is the University’s early entrance program for talented high school students who have completed the eleventh grade and are ready to begin their college studies.

Goss received his bachelor of arts degree in geography from Mansfield College, Oxford University, and his Ph.D. in geography from the University of Kentucky.

He was previously employed at the University of Hawaii at Manoa as professor of geography and director of the honors program.

His research interests include landscapes of tourism and consumption in the United States, and human-environmental relations in Southeast Asia.

He was instrumental in obtaining several grants, including a $300,000 grant from the Ford Foundation for the School of Hawaiian, Asian and Pacific Studies. This project result in a co-edited volume (with Terence Wesley-Smith), titled Remaking area studies: New perspectives on learning Asia Pacific, published by University of Hawaii Press.

Clarkson University launches leaders into the global economy. One in six alumni already leads as a CEO, VP or equivalent senior executive of a company. Located just outside the Adirondack Park in Potsdam, N.Y., Clarkson is a nationally recognized research university for undergraduates with select graduate programs in signature areas of academic excellence directed toward the world’s pressing issues. Through 50 rigorous programs of study in engineering, business, arts, sciences and health sciences, the entire learning-living community spans boundaries across disciplines, nations and cultures to build powers of observation, challenge the status quo, and connect discovery and engineering innovation with enterprise.
