Free Golf "Course" with Founder of Adams Golf & Clarkson University Alumnus Barney Adams

Entrepreneur, innovator & author Barney Adams, founder of Adams Golf and a member of Clarkson University's class of 1962, is someone you want to meet, if you want to win at golf or in business.

Barney AdamsAdams is the inventor of the ground-breaking Tight Lies fairway wood and his company today produces the most played clubs on the PGA tour.

At this "course" on Saturday, November 17, at 1 p.m. in the Multipurpose Rooms of the Student Center on Clarkson University’s Hill Campus, you will learn how technology led to revolutionary innovation in one of the oldest games in the world; about marketing your brand to the legends of golf; and how passion for the sports, team projects and games you play today can lead to building a successful multi-million dollar company.

Refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.

As part of this one-hour session, Clarkson students who are launching their own sports equipment business, Renoun Ski Company, will also be sharing their elevator pitch to Adams and using his insights to build their own business plan.

A limited number of signed copies of Adams' book, The Wow Factor, will be available for purchase. The book celebrates how unbridled enthusiasm and engineering innovation came together to change single-handedly how golf clubs are invented, introduced, marketed and sold.

Adams, a three-sport student athlete at Clarkson, will be on campus to be inducted into the University’s Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday night with a ceremony during the Golden Knights men’s ice hockey match vs. Princeton.

In addition to playing golf, soccer and basketball as a student, Adams was active in his fraternity. Today, he is a prominent figure in business as well as among golfers at all levels of the sport.

At the PGA of America Awards in 2011, he was named the recipient of the prestigious Ernie Sabayrac Award for his lifetime contributions to the golf industry. He is also the spokesman for the Tee It Forward Initiative, a national program to help all golfers have more fun and enhance their overall performance by playing from a set of tees best suited to their individual abilities.

Clarkson educates leaders. This is a truly entertaining and special opportunity to learn more about leadership from one of Clarkson’s one-in-five alumni who owns a business or serves as CEO, president or senior executive of a company.

The event is open to the public. The Student Center is building #11 on the campus map at
