U.S. News: Clarkson University Ranked in Tier One of National Universities & A Best Value

Supply Chain Management Program in Nation's Top-20

Clarkson University is again in tier one, the top tier of national universities, with a ranking of 121 in U.S. News & World Report’s 2014 rankings of "Best Colleges."

Clarkson University students pass by Bertrand H. Snell Hall, home of Clarkson's national top-20 supply chain management program.Clarkson remains on the U.S. News "Great Schools at Great Prices" list (Best Value Schools, #33), which takes into account a school's academic quality, as indicated by its 2014 U.S. News Best Colleges ranking, and the 2012-2013 net cost of attendance for a student who receives the average level of need-based financial aid.

The higher the quality of the program and the lower the cost, the better the deal. Only schools ranked in or near the top half of their categories are included, because U.S. News considers the most significant values to be among colleges that are above average academically.

The survey editors also placed Clarkson University in the "A+ Options for B Students" list, which they identify as strongly rated schools that accept nonsuperstars who have potential and will work hard.

"Clarkson University has a long history of prioritizing access to education for all qualified students who seek to enroll and remains committed to having the greatest share of its alumni contributions and endowment go to student aid and education," said Clarkson President Tony Collins. "Clarkson is also at the forefront of taking innovative approaches to helping students finance their education -- particularly those students who are already in business with a product or service, or getting ready to commercialize new technology."

Clarkson's Supply Chain Management program, highly acclaimed by employers of Clarkson graduates, was listed among the 20 best in the nation for the 12th consecutive year, ranked number 18 in Supply Chain Management/Logistics. Clarkson is among four private institutions in the ranking, which also includes MIT, Carnegie Mellon, and the University of Pennsylvania.

Last fall, ABC News asked PayScale to name the schools with new graduates who earn more than Harvard’s and Clarkson was among just 12 schools on the list. (ACO) lists Clarkson in the nation's top-30 private universities that offer a return on investment of at least $1 million. ACO also recently ranked Clarkson in New York state's top-10 for colleges and universities that provide the highest return on investment (ROI).

U.S. News also lists Clarkson as #1 in the nation for graduates with the most internship experience and in the nation's top-12 for its online graduate business programs. Of students graduating in Clarkson’s Class of 2012 and using the campus Career Services Center, 96 percent reported being placed in their field of study in the first year after graduation.

Clarkson is in good company in the top tier undergraduate rankings as well as the Best Value Schools category, which it shares with schools like Harvard, Princeton, Yale, MIT, Stanford, Cal Tech and Duke.

Each year U.S. News surveys nearly 1,400 accredited four-year institutions for their annual “Best Colleges” issue. Schools in the "National Universities" category, like Clarkson, offer a full range of undergraduate majors, master's, and doctoral degrees. These colleges also are committed to producing ground-breaking research.

Clarkson University launches leaders into the global economy. One in five alumni already leads as a CEO, VP or equivalent senior executive of a company. Located just outside the Adirondack Park in Potsdam, N.Y., Clarkson is a nationally recognized research university for undergraduates with select graduate programs in signature areas of academic excellence directed toward the world’s pressing issues. Through 50 rigorous programs of study in engineering, business, arts, sciences and health sciences, the entire learning-living community spans boundaries across disciplines, nations and cultures to build powers of observation, challenge the status quo, and connect discovery and engineering innovation with enterprise.
