Clarkson University Celebrates Global Entrepreneurship Week Nov. 18-21

Next week, over 138 countries will host more than 4,000 events designed to strengthen the global entrepreneurship ecosystem during Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2013.

Bertrand H. Snell HallEach November, GEW inspires citizens “from all walks of life through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators."

The Reh Center for Entrepreneurship at Clarkson University has partnered with GEW to bring these events to the North Country for the first time. A series of events are planned and are open to all.

“Partnering with Global Entrepreneurship Week provides a global connection and inspiration for entrepreneurs across our community,” says Erin Draper, director of operations at the Reh Center. “Excitement is building on campus and we have seen an increase in student ideas and start-ups as a result."

“The events during Global Entrepreneurship Week will serve as a platform to learn valuable lessons and develop relationships that could possibly change your life and I couldn't be more grateful to be a part of it," said Joseph Siracuse ’15, an engineering and management major from Clarence, N.Y.

Events, including keynote speakers, luncheons, student pitches, and the Sigma Nu Tau Entrepreneurship Honor Society induction, are designed to drive partnerships, conversations and awareness of entrepreneurial activity.

Scheduled are:

Monday, November 18, 7 p.m.: Kick-off Celebration - Guest Speaker Tom Hall ’83. Dessert will be served. (Snell Hall Atrium)

Tuesday, November 19, 7 p.m.: Idea Jam - Inspiration and Idea Creation presented by School of Business Dean Dayle Smith. Pizza will be served. (Student Center Multipurpose Rooms)

Wednesday, November 20, all day: Student Business Start-up Poster Voting. Stop by MoJoe to vote for your favorite student business. (Bertrand H. Snell Hall Atrium)

Thursday, November 21, noon-2 p.m.: Intellectual Property Panel Luncheon. Pizza will be served. Noon-1, Patents; 1-2, IP Protection. RSVP to 315-268-4350. (Student Center Multipurpose Rooms)

Thursday, November 21, 4 p.m.: Student Pitches. Join the EM456 Process Engineering and Design: Invention Development class for student pitches (Student Center Multipurpose Rooms)
