Clarkson University Delivers 14th Global Supply Chain Management Executive Seminar to Corporate Professionals

Last week, Clarkson University’s nationally ranked Global Supply Chain Management (GSCM) program presented its 14th annual Executive Seminar, delivering state-of-the-art education to corporate professionals.

 “We are pleased that our executive seminar continues to attract working professionals from numerous highly respected global corporations,” says Professor Farzad Mahmoodi, Joel Goldchein ’57 Endowed Chair in Global Supply Chain Management and director of the program. “It’s a strong endorsement of the quality of our faculty and the relevance of our curriculum.”

Clarkson’s GSCM program is celebrating its 12th straight year of being ranked by U.S. News & World Report in the national Top 20.

In addition to lectures by faculty experts, the Executive Seminar utilizes a highly interactive format that employs team and hands-on activities, including simulations and negotiations exercises. Participants also benefit from networking opportunities with industry professionals and Clarkson faculty.

“Our curriculum is effective because it mirrors the intensive levels of cross-disciplinary integration and systems approach that are a must for successful corporations in today’s global environment,” says Mahmoodi. “We provide insights and practical tools that help participants streamline and improve their companies' supply chain.”

Seminar topics included emerging trends and proven strategies in GSCM, measuring supply chain financial performance, inventory management and logistics strategies, global sourcing and supply chain integration, coping with supply chain disruptions, mitigating risk through contracting, negotiations in supply chain management, environmental sustainability in the supply chain, and analytics and supply chain management.

Since the seminar began, nearly 430 executives, managers, directors and consultants from 40 states and four continents have attended, representing approximately 75 globally recognized corporations, including more than 30 Fortune 500 companies. The seminar’s 2014 corporate sponsors included General Electric, Toyota / Raymond Corporation, Stanley Black & Decker, and Xerox.

Faculty at this year’s seminar included Clarkson faculty Santosh Mahapatra, Dennis Yu, Mike Wasserman, Steve Sauer, Mark Frascatore and Farzad Mahmoodi; Heimo Losbichler (Steyr University, Austria); and Mike Prado (VP of Supply Management- Stanley Black & Decker). Tanya Conto served as the seminar coordinator.
