Mekhaimer Appointed Assistant Professor of Finance at Clarkson University

Mohamed Mekhaimer has been appointed assistant professor of finance at Clarkson University.

Mohamed MekhaimerHe received his bachelor of commerce degree in business administration from the University of Mansoura in Egypt, his master of science degree in finance from the University of Plymouth in Plymouth, Devon, U.K., and his Ph.D. in business administration, finance, from the University of Memphis.

His research interests are in market microstructure, commonalities in liquidity, stock market design, stock exchange mergers, corporate governance, innovation, and reverse mergers. His teaching interests are in corporate finance, investments, portfolio management, international finance, and financial markets.

Before coming to Clarkson, Mekhaimer was a teaching and research assistant at the Fogelman College of Business at Economics at the University of Memphis. He also has teaching experience at the University of Mansoura, and Arab Open University in Cairo, Egypt. Additionally, he has been an executive trainer and an instructional designer.

Mekhaimer has presented papers about internal governance and stock market liquidity at seminars and association conferences around the U.S. and in Europe. He also has works in progress exploring topics such as trading in two time zones, and corporate governance, liquidity and information content. In addition, Mekhaimer has co-written an article about stock market anomalies in emerging markets.

He has attended multiple workshops in his field, serving as ad hoc referee, participant, and session chair.

His honors include academic distinction, scholarships and travel grants. In 2013, he was selected to receive a competitive summer research grant from the Department of Finance, Insurance and Real Estate from the University of Memphis. He received the Egyptian Government Scholarship for Graduate Studies, 2011-14.

Mekhaimer is a member of the American Finance Association, Financial Management Association, European Finance Association, Eastern Finance Association, Southern Finance Association, Midwestern Finance Association, and Southwestern Finance Association.
