Mousavian Appointed Assistant Professor of Engineering & Management at Clarkson University

Amir Mousavian has been appointed assistant professor of engineering & management at Clarkson University.

Amir MousavianHe received his bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering from Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Iran; his master of business administration degree from Malek Ashtar University of Technology in Tehran; and master of science and Ph.D. degrees in industrial and systems engineering from Auburn University.

Before coming to Clarkson, he was a graduate research assistant at Auburn, where he explored issues related to power systems optimization and cyber-security for smart grids. From 2008-2010, he was the vice president of the marketing department and system analyst for Iran's leading manufacturer of submersible and centrifugal electropumps. He also interned at a petroleum development and engineering company.

From spring 2012 to spring 2014, Mousavian taught engineering economics at Auburn University. He has additional experience as a graduate teaching assistant.

Mousavian has made presentations about enhanced cyber-security for smart grid operations, and network data contamination detection with artificial neural nets. He has written and co-written articles and working papers on these topics, as well.

Amid his studies, Mousavian has provided service by organizing and serving as chair for conferences and annual meetings in his field. He also has been an invited reviewer for professional journals.

He received graduate travel awards from Auburn University, where he was recognized as a distinguished ISE (industrial and systems engineering) student and an outstanding graduate student of the ISE Department. He received Julia and Albert Smith Fellowships in 2012 and 2013, the more recent one being a graduate research award in the field of energy and environment.
