His grants, awards, scholarships and certificates include an IEEE Global Early Career Faculty Certificate of Completion; research fellowship, University of Ottawa School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science; Ph.D. research grant, TUBITAK-Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey; Incentive Program Fund for International Scientific Publications, Turkish Academic Network and Information Center; and  the Siemens Excellence Award.

He is a senior member of IEEE and co-founding member of the IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee on Green Communications and Computing. He is an editorial board member of the IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials, and an area editor of the IEEE Ad hoc and Sensor Networks Technical Committee (AHSN-TC) Newsletter. Kantarci is a co-chair of the IEEE Multimedia Communications Technical Committee's Interest Group on Multimedia Big Data. He also serves as an information officer for the IEEE Special Technical Committee on Sustainable Computing. He has also been serving in the Technical Program Committees of GLOBECOM and ICC, two flagship conferences of IEEE Communications Society.

Clarkson University launches leaders into the global economy. One in five alumni already leads as a CEO, VP or equivalent senior executive of a company. Located just outside the Adirondack Park in Potsdam, N.Y., Clarkson is a nationally recognized research university for undergraduates with select graduate programs in signature areas of academic excellence directed toward the world's pressing issues. Through 50 rigorous programs of study in engineering, business, arts, sciences and the health professions, the entire learning-living community spans boundaries across disciplines, nations and cultures to build powers of observation, challenge the status quo, and connect discovery and engineering innovation with enterprise.
