Clarkson University's S.N. Nyeck in Denmark to Speak About Government Outsourcing

Clarkson University Assistant Professor of Political Science S.N. Nyeck is joining an international group of scholars in Denmark this week to speak about colonial government outsourcing practices in Africa.

S.N. NyeckShe is attending the conference "Practices of Order and Imperial Projects" at the University of Copenhagen. Scholars gathered there are exploring practices developed by colonial states and empires in order to govern the behavior of their subject populations.

Nyeck’s contribution is on the ways in which sovereignty and independence were negotiated through imperial outsourcing strategies in late nineteenth century East Africa. Her presentation this week is part of a book project on the political economy of government outsourcing and state formation in Africa.
