Clarkson University's Xydias Awarded Carrie Chapman Catt Prize

Clarkson University Assistant Professor of Political Science Christina Xydias has been awarded a Carrie Chapman Catt Prize for Research on Women and Politics by the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics at Iowa State University.

Christina XydiasThe Center’s website describes the prize as “an annual competition designed to encourage and reward scholars embarking on significant research in the area of women and politics.”

The work for which Xydias was awarded the Carrie Chapman Catt Prize is her book project, titled The Conservative Woman: A Comparative Study of Germany and the United States.

The book argues for placing the representational activities of female political elites in their broader political context in order to discern and understand conservative women’s contributions to advancing women’s rights and interests. The prize will support further data collection for this project.
