Clarkson University Army ROTC Students Commissioned

The Army ROTC Golden Knight Battalion at Clarkson University commissioned six cadets into the U.S. Army at the annual spring commissioning in May.

Army ROTC 2015The ceremony featured comments by Clarkson University President Tony Collins and guest speaker Air Force Lt. Gen. Ellen Pawlikowski.

Pawlikowski entered the Air Force in 1978 through the ROTC program at the New Jersey Institute of Technology and currently serves as the commander of the Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.

The ceremony also included the swearing in of the new officers, the pinning of their gold bars by family members, and the traditional first salute, known as the silver dollar salute.

Receiving their commissions were seniors Timothy Goldstone, engineering & management, Accord, N.Y.; James Papia, civil engineering, Revere, Mass.; Kyle Chapman, mechanical engineering, Palmyra, N.Y.; Joshua Wilson, political science and history, New Hartford, N.Y.; Jacob Hewitt, civil engineering, Portsmouth, N.H.; and Macauley Kennedy, civil engineering, Troy, N.Y. Christopher McKay, psychology, Albany, N.Y., will receive his commission at the end of the summer term.

Also recognized and commissioned the following week were SUNY Potsdam cadets Aaron Smith, music education, Watertown, N.Y.; Thomas Codding Jr., criminal justice, Beekmantown, N.Y.; Joseph Locci, environmental studies, Parish, N.Y.; Michael Vaughn, educational technology; Nicolais Kouame, mathematics, Spring Valley, N.Y.; and SUNY Canton student Benjamin Salem, criminal investigation, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
