Clarkson University Hosts Humanities & Social Sciences Conference for Students April 13

Clarkson University’s Department of Humanities and Social Sciences will host its eighth annual Humanities & Social Sciences Undergraduate Research Conference on Wednesday, April 13, showcasing the creative, critical, and analytical work of students from across the University and the Associated Colleges of the St. Lawrence Valley.

The conference will take place in the Student Center Multi-purpose Rooms (#15 on the map at http://www.clarkson.edu/about/clarkson_map.pdf) and is open to the public free of charge. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature presentation sessions, as well as a gallery space with creative projects.

Clarkson University students discuss their presentations with attendees at the 2015 Humanities & Social Sciences Undergraduate Research Conference. Student presentations will take up themes of local and global significance, such as gender, warfare, film, healthcare, the environment, and more.

Topics include the perception and treatment of women in engineering, cultural competence in the rural free clinic setting, the psychology behind basic training, the Islamic State’s recruitment, sexual assault, environmental philosophy, readings from original work, and more.
