Clarkson University Welcomes Stephenson as Assistant Professor of Healthcare Management

Clarkson University has welcomed Amber Stephenson as an assistant professor of healthcare management.

Stephenson was previously a faculty member at Union Graduate College (UGC), which merged into Clarkson in February. She is based at Clarkson's Capital Region Campus in Schenectady, N.Y., the former UGC.

Amber StephensonStephenson teaches organizational behavior and organization theory courses, such as health systems management, structural dynamics of healthcare organizations, and managing people and teams in organizations.

Her research is in the area of organizational identification. She has presented nationally and published in multiple peer-reviewed journals. She is a member of the Academy of Management, AcademyHealth, the International Leadership Association, the American College of Healthcare Executives, and the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action.

Previously, Stephenson was the director and senior research associate at Temple University’s Nonprofit Evaluation Services and Training program, where she managed research, evaluation, programming, and capacity building exercises for partner organizations. In addition, she co-created the International Nonprofit Training and Leadership certificate program. During this time, Stephenson was an instructor for the College of Education at Temple University and for the Master of Organizational Leadership program at Alvernia University.

Before her work at Temple, Stephenson was the primary analyst for several state-wide health initiatives through the Department of Public Welfare’s Bureau of Policy Analysis and Planning.

She received her bachelor of science degree from Ursinus College, her master of public health degree in healthcare administration from West Chester University, and her Ph.D. in administration and leadership studies from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In 2010, she received the 23rd Annual Doctoral Fellowship Award from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
