Clarkson University Awards First Anne & Walt Robb Scholarships to Schenectady Students

Clarkson University will award its inaugural Anne & Walt Robb Scholarships to Schenectady High School senior Rayman Alli and Colonie High School senior Alicia Bushey. Both students are residents of Schenectady and will start at Clarkson in August as members of the Class of 2020.

Walter and Anne RobbThe scholarships are named for Niskayuna residents Anne Robb and her husband, Walter L. Robb, president of Vantage Management Inc. of Schenectady, who is a Clarkson University trustee and was a trustee at Union Graduate College before its merger into Clarkson. As a UGC trustee, Walter played an important role in bringing the two internationally recognized institutions together.

In announcing the scholarship in February at the grand opening of Clarkson's Capital Region Campus in Schenectady, Clarkson President Tony Collins said, "The DNA of Schenectady and Clarkson is a perfect match. This year and going forward we are going to be awarding -- in addition to any other financial aid -- two $5,000 scholarships to high school students from Schenectady. We want to partner with the very roots of this community and help raise people to a hope, to a life, and a future that they, perhaps, did not dream of. And those two scholarships will be named the Anne & Walt Robb Scholarships."

"We are excited to recognize two high quality students with the first ever Anne & Walt Robb Scholarships," said Dean of Admissions Brian Grant. "The scholarship allows Clarkson to attract wonderful students from the Schenectady area, while reducing the financial burden to the families. We are excited to continue our commitment to Schenectady and their students."

Clarkson University educates the leaders of the global economy. One in five alumni already leads as an owner, CEO, VP or equivalent senior executive of a company.
