Clarkson University Professor Receives AcademyHealth Presidential Scholarship

Assistant Professor of Healthcare Management Amber Stephenson of Clarkson University's School of Business has been selected for the 2016 AcademyHealth Presidential Scholarship for New Health Services Researchers. She is based at Clarkson's Capital Region Campus in Schenectady, N.Y.

Amber StephensonAs a member of AcademyHealth, she is one of five scholarship recipients who will attend the Annual Research Meeting this June in Boston. Attendees will have unique networking and mentoring opportunities with AcademyHealth leadership and staff, as well as distinguished leaders in the field.

Stephenson teaches organizational behavior and organizational theory courses, such as health systems management, structural dynamics of healthcare organizations, and managing people and teams in organizations. Her research is in the area of organizational identification.

AcademyHealth works to improve health and the performance of the health system by supporting the production and use of evidence to inform policy and practice. Health services research is the multidisciplinary field of scientific investigation that studies how social factors, financing systems, organizational structures and processes, health technologies, and personal behaviors affect access to health care, the quality and cost of health care, and ultimately our health and well-being.
