The annual, four-day, on-campus program attracted participants from Toyota, Stanley Black & Decker, Xerox, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Corning, Raymond Corporation, Snap-on Tools, and Par Technology Corporation.

While about a third of the participants came from the various regions within the New York State, the rest traveled to Potsdam from Connecticut, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington D.C., and Wisconsin.

In addition to lectures by faculty experts, the seminar utilized a highly interactive format that employs team and hands-on activities, including simulations and negotiations exercises. Participants also benefited from networking opportunities with industry professionals and Clarkson faculty.

“We incorporate the latest trends and technologies into our curriculum so we continue to develop leaders who understand how each process works, who recognize the potential of disruptive technologies, and, most importantly, who understand how to integrate each function into the overall supply chain system for superior performance,” said Mahmoodi.

Seminar topics included emerging trends and proven strategies in GSCM, measuring supply chain financial performance, inventory management and logistics strategies, global sourcing and supply chain integration, coping with supply chain disruptions, aligning supply chain incentives and mitigating risk through contracting, negotiations in supply chain management, and disruptive technologies in the supply chain.

Since the seminar began in 2001, more than 500 executives, managers, directors and consultants from 45 states and four continents have attended, representing more than 80 globally recognized corporations, including about 30 Fortune 500 companies. The seminar’s 2016 corporate sponsors were Toyota / Raymond Corporation, Stanley Black & Decker, Snap-on Tools, and Xerox.

Faculty at this year’s seminar included Clarkson faculty Dennis Yu, Mike Wasserman, Steve Sauer, Mark Frascatore and Farzad Mahmoodi; Heimo Losbichler (Steyr University, Austria); and Mike Prado (VP of Supply Management- Stanley Black & Decker). Tanya Conto served as the seminar coordinator.
