Clarkson University to Host Second Annual Cold Out Gold Out Winter Celebration Feb. 3 & 4

Clarkson University will bring back classic Ice Carnival traditions and create new memories at the second annual Cold Out Gold Out (COGO) next month.

COGOThe North Country is invited to join students and alumni for a weekend of hockey, outdoor ice skating, ice cream sundaes, hot chocolate, dog sled rides and more on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 3 and 4.

Friday night will feature a "Winterfest" in Ives Park in Potsdam, N.Y., including face painting, sign making and music. The community is encouraged to check out the storefront window decorating contest in downtown Potsdam and visit the hospitality tent sponsored by Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

A fireworks presentation sponsored by SpiceCSM will begin at 9 p.m. on Friday.

While visiting their alma mater, alumni will welcome students and members of the community to join them for a series of professional workshops and a networking luncheon during Saturday's Leadership Expo in the Center for Advanced Materials Processing (#13 on the map at

Advanced registration is required for the Leadership Expo.

Before the men's hockey game on Saturday, Clarkson alumni will take to the ice at 3 p.m. for an alumni hockey game on the outdoor ice rink on Cheel lawn. In the event of outdoor ice problems, the alumni hockey game will move to Cheel Arena (#12 on the map at

A pep rally will follow at 4 p.m. on Cheel lawn, with more face painting and sign making activities in Cheel lobby to get Golden Knights fans ready for the big game.

The men's hockey team will face off against St. Lawrence University at 7 p.m. on Saturday in Cheel Arena. The first 2,500 attendees will receive a free COGO t-shirt.

An ice bash with live music and an ice bar will be held after the game in the main event tent on Cheel lawn.
