Master of Science in Information Technology

In the computer age, all organizations depend on the flow of information. The modern IT professional is responsible for setting up and maintaining information systems in commercial businesses, educational institutions, charitable organizations, architectural and engineering offices, law firms, and wherever they are used. The widespread demand for such systems has generated a critical need for skilled individuals who can lead in establishing and maintaining of information networks, the protection of the systems from unwanted intrusion, and the management and dissemination of information via the World Wide Web. Surveys show a need for several hundred thousand individuals with advanced computer-networking skills.

Throughout the world of commerce and industry computer systems are being operated by technically oriented people who have not had the formal training that would allow them to keep current in the face of rapid changes in hardware, software and networking. The Clarkson IT program can give these people the formal educational grounding that they need to keep their systems viable.

The IT Masters program at Clarkson University offers an interdisciplinary, broad-based curriculum for this professional degree. Students take courses from a range of disciplines including Math and Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Communication & Media, and Management Information Systems.
