Northern New York Robotics Academy - K-12 Education

In this Section

The Northern New York Robotics Academy (NNYRA) is a growing partnership between North Country-based institutions of higher education, e.g., Clarkson University and Saint Lawrence University, and the Saint Lawrence-Lewis BOCES that has been developing innovative robotics-based educational outreach experiences for local students for over 10 years. Our outreach efforts include professional development and support for local teachers, who are the ultimate champions of our activities.  The FIRST programs are the centerpieces of NNYRI’s mission to prepare North Country youth to meet tomorrow’s engineering/technology workforce needs. Clarkson University has supported robotics outreach since 1998, running a FIRST Robotics Competition team for high school students since 1998 through its nationally recognized SPEED program and as part of the HORIZONS summer program for middle school girls; and in 2007, we began offering a FIRST LEGO League program for elementary to middle school students and FIRST Tech Challenge program for high school aged students.
